History
This site started a while back, about September 2004. My first host was Angelfire and it took some time before the site was even up since I wasn't too experienced in HTML yet. But finally, after a couple of weeks, the site was up and running. However, the site was originally called Saiyan Pride.
At first I started advertising my site to every topsite I could think of but upon further thinking, decided against it and decided only to submit to a few.
Saiyan Pride didn't last too long on Angelfire however because I found that whenever I went to my site or any other Angelfire hosted site, my computer would freeze. This definately wasn't a good thing, so I decided to move to Geocities.
I liked Geocities and used it for a while. It was easy to use and simple and clean. The only problems were the amount of space they gave you and how the site would go down at times.
Well, finally I decided to move once again. This time I chose Hostultra, a pretty good hosting service with unlimited space. I thought that this would be the final place that Saiyajin Rivalry would stay but luckily the awesome webmiss of Rice Boy asked me if I wanted to be hosted at her domain and I later took on upon the offer.
So...there's the history of the site. A lot of moving but for now, it looks like Saiyajin Rivalry will stay here. At least until I can get my own domain that is. ^^
Why?
You might be wondering why I decided to start a DragonBall site that focuses mainly on the rivals and sometimes friends, Goku and Vegeta. Well, the answer's quite simple... (I think)
I've been to a lot of DragonBall sites over the years, and there were some that stood out to me and some that didn't. The ones that didn't were the sites that didn't have good content for one and the ones that focused on subjects or characters that are always focused on. One example being Vegeta. Now I know he's an awesome character, I once almost made a shrine to him. ^_^;; But the fact is that there are a little too many Vegeta sites on the web.
Goku on the other hand is a completely different story. Though the main character of DragonBall, I haven't seen a lot of english sites dedicated to Goku. (At least not as many as I have seen dedicated to Vegeta.) Piccolo is another example. I've only seen a handful of sites dedicated to Piccolo. Gohan could also join that list.
Well, after seeing this, I decided that if I wanted to have a DragonBall site, it'd have to be about something that hardly no one has every seen. Instantly, the thought of a Goku vs. Vegeta site came to mind.
When I started watching DragonBall Z years ago and I first seen the rivalry of Goku and Vegeta, it was really something that got me into the series. It's a subject that I love and I'd talk about it all day if I could. XD
With this in mind, I set out to create a Goku vs. Vegeta website (which later on including information on their relationship as well), and here it is, Saiyajin Rivalry!
Saiyajin or Saiyan?
Okay, some of you might be wondering why I've changing the name from Saiyan Pride, to Saiyan Rivalry, to finally, Saiyajin Rivalry. Well, it started out from AngelFire. I had my site in mind but the problem was, I couldn't decide on a decent name. After some thought, I finally chose Saiyan Pride, probably because of my liking of Vegeta more than Goku.
Well, the name Saiyan Pride didn't last too long after I realized that the name didn't really go with the topic of my site.
Next I moved to Geocities and that's where I decided on the name Saiyan Rivalry. The only problem was that the name Saiyan Rivalry was already taken. Now I had to chose another name, but I really didn't want to change names again, so I chose the romaji name/spelling of Saiyan, Saiyajin.
Now after time, I sort of came to like the name Saiyajin instead of the dubbed Saiyan. So, I decided to keep it as Saiyajin instead of Saiyan. ^_^
