The Past - Vegeta & Nappa
Vegeta and Nappa have sort of a weird relationship. Most often, you'll see Vegeta ordering Nappa around and telling him what to do. And for the most part, Nappa usually listens. Even as a kid, Vegeta always seemed to be "in control" of Nappa. Part of the reason why this was might have been because of Vegeta's higher standing (him being a prince) or it could have been that Nappa was afraid of Vegeta. Either way, Vegeta always seemed to get his way.
However, another aspect of their relationship, or at least in my opinion, was a sort of "Father and son" relationship. Vegeta loss both his home planet and father at the age of five. With only Nappa around, I would think that Nappa and Vegeta sort of formed a Father/Son relationship or in a way, Nappa "raised" Vegeta. But as time moved on, I'm guessing Vegeta sort of "seperated" from Nappa and started going under Freeza's influence, therefore becoming the evil character you see him as in the Saiyajin and Freeza Sagas.
Overall, Nappa and Vegeta weren't exactly the best duo in the series, however, I do think that there was once a relationship between these two. Otherwise, Vegeta no doubt would have killed Nappa off a long time ago, right?
